The Truth Most People Won’t Say

The Financial Services Industry
Has Not Always Shown Up for You.

Financial planning for Black women starts with an honest acknowledgment: this community has been among the most underserved groups in the financial services industry for far too long. You have built careers, launched businesses, raised families, supported communities, and created opportunities where none existed. This is the gap our wealth management practice was built to close.

The wealth gap is real. The barriers to financial guidance are real. The experience of walking into a financial advisor’s office and feeling unseen, misunderstood, or underestimated is real. And it is unacceptable.

At Advance Financial Lighthouse we see you. We understand your world — not just professionally, but personally. As a Black financial advisor, Kathy Williams, RFC® is a fiduciary who has spent over 30 years in this industry, navigating the same spaces, facing some of the same challenges, and building a practice specifically designed to serve all women and families this industry has historically left behind. Our approach to financial planning starts with understanding — and builds everything else around it.

#1
Fastest Growing Group

Black women are among the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the United States. Between 2019 and 2024, revenue at Black women-owned businesses grew 80.8% and employment grew 44.4% — outpacing the growth of women-owned businesses overall.

$
The Wealth Gap

Black women working full-time, year-round earn about 66 cents for every dollar earned by white men — a gap that compounds across a lifetime of work into a profound difference in wealth, retirement security, and financial independence.

35
Years That Count

Social Security is calculated on your 35 highest-earning years. Time out of the workforce caring for children or aging parents counts as zeros in that math — quietly lowering the benefit a woman collects for life, and making personal savings matter even more.

0.9×
Less Than a Year’s Pay

By ages 55–59, Black women have saved about 0.9 times their annual salary for retirement — compared with roughly 1.8 times for white workers. For most, that falls well short of a secure retirement, and it is the kind of gap a deliberate plan is meant to close.

A Note From Our Founder

A Practice Built
for Women Like You.

I grew up understanding what it means to need — and what it means to be overlooked. I spent decades in a financial services industry that was not always designed for women like me. I watched Black women be underserved, underestimated, and underrepresented at every level of wealth management.

So I built something different. A practice where every Black woman is met with the same level of care and sophistication this industry has historically reserved for others.

You have done the work. You have carried the weight. You have shown up for your family, your community, and your career with extraordinary strength. Now let me show up for your financial future.

“When your money is aligned with your purpose, it does not just grow — it transforms lives, strengthens families, and builds legacies that echo for generations. That is what I believe. That is what I build. And Black women deserve every single part of it.”

You Should Not Have to Work
Twice as Hard for Half as Much.

Black women face a unique set of financial realities that most advisors are not equipped — or willing — to address directly. The racial wealth gap. The gender pay gap. The compound effect of both. The disproportionate financial responsibility many Black women carry for extended family. The entrepreneurial brilliance that often goes underfunded. The deep desire to build generational wealth in communities where it has historically been denied.

And no two financial lives look the same. Your plan should reflect where you actually are — not where someone assumes you should be.

At Advance Financial Lighthouse we do not pretend these realities do not exist. We acknowledge them, plan around them, and build financial strategies specifically designed to help Black women overcome them.

  • Wealth building strategies that account for your full financial reality
  • Business financial planning for Black women entrepreneurs
  • Generational wealth and legacy planning
  • Investment strategy aligned with your values and community
  • Protection planning — because you have too much to lose
Who This Page Is For

Every Black Woman Who Has Ever
Deserved Better Than She Received.

This page — and this practice — exists for you. Wherever you are in your financial journey. Whatever you have built. Whatever you are still building.

Business Owners

You built something from nothing. Now let us help you build personal wealth alongside it — so your business gives back everything you poured into it.

Professionals

Healthcare, Attorneys, CPA. You earned your credentials through sacrifice. Your financial plan should reflect that level of achievement.

Family Financial Managers

Working or managing your family at home — you manage your family’s financial life every day. We are here to make sure someone is managing yours.

High Income Achievers & Executives

You have worked exceptionally hard to reach the top of your field. Your financial strategy should be as ambitious and disciplined as you are.

First-Generation Wealth Builders

You are creating something your family has never had before. That takes extraordinary courage — and a financial partner who truly understands what is at stake.

Building a Legacy

Your goal goes beyond retirement. It is about generational wealth — building something that strengthens your family long after you.

Wherever You Are Right Now

Single, Married, Divorced, or Widowed —
Your Plan Should Fit Your Life.

Marital status changes everything about how a financial plan should be built. Too often, Black women are handed a one-size-fits-all plan that quietly assumes a life situation that may not be theirs. We don’t do that here.

Single Black Women

Whether by choice or by season, building wealth on a single income deserves a strategy designed around your full financial reality — emergency reserves that actually protect you, retirement savings that don’t depend on a second income, disability and life coverage that fit your responsibilities, and a long-term plan for how you want to live and what you want to leave.

Married Black Women

Marriage should multiply your financial strength, not erase your individual voice in it. We help couples coordinate accounts, taxes, retirement, and estate documents while making sure each partner — especially you — understands the full picture and has a clear seat at the table in every decision. Learn more about our financial planning for Black families.

Divorced Black Women

Divorce is not just an emotional reset — it is a complete financial reset. We help you understand what you walked away with, restructure retirement and investment accounts, update beneficiaries and estate documents, and rebuild a plan that is fully and unapologetically yours. You are not starting over. You are starting from experience.

Widowed Black Women

Loss does not pause the financial decisions waiting for you. We walk alongside you through life insurance claims, Social Security survivor benefits, account transfers, beneficiary updates, and the long-term planning your family’s future still depends on — with patience, steadiness, and respect for what you and your loved one built together. Our dedicated financial advice for widows is one of the deepest specialties in our practice.

Our Commitment to Black Women

You Will Never Be Unseen Here.
Ever.

At Advance Financial Lighthouse every Black woman who comes through our doors is seen, heard, respected, and served with the full weight of our expertise, our care, and our commitment. We do not just understand your financial journey. We understand your life. Your community. Your history. Your extraordinary strength.

As a fiduciary financial advisor leading a woman-led practice, we build your financial plan around all of it — not just your portfolio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About
Working With Us

How is financial planning for Black women different from general financial planning?

It begins from a different starting point. A general plan rarely accounts for the combined weight of the racial wealth gap and the gender pay gap, the family-support responsibilities many Black women carry, the path of a first-generation wealth builder, or how a plan should shift across single, married, divorced, and widowed seasons. At Advance Financial Lighthouse, those realities shape the plan from the first conversation — they are the foundation, not an afterthought.

Can you help me if my financial situation has changed due to divorce or widowhood?

Yes. Marital transitions — divorce, widowhood, separation — are among the most financially complex moments a woman will navigate. We provide dedicated planning for divorced Black women (settlement evaluation, retirement restructuring, estate plan reset) and widowed Black women (insurance claims, survivor benefits, account transfers, long-term planning). We meet you where you are and build from there.

Do you have account minimums?

No. Advance Financial Lighthouse has no account minimums. Quality fiduciary financial planning should not be reserved for women who already have substantial wealth. Whether you are just beginning to build or managing significant assets, you belong here.

Can you help me manage financial conversations with extended family?

Yes. Many Black women carry significant financial responsibility for parents, siblings, and extended family alongside their own retirement and wealth-building goals. We help you structure how you support your family without compromising your own financial future — including setting boundaries, building reserves, and coordinating your giving with your long-term plan.

Do you work with Black women executives and business owners?

Yes. We serve Black women executives navigating complex compensation packages, equity, and peak-earning-year tax strategy, as well as Black women business owners who need their company and their personal balance sheet working together. Both require a coordinated strategy that goes beyond basic investment management — and that is exactly what we provide.

Do you serve Black women outside of Oklahoma City?

Yes. While Advance Financial Lighthouse is based in Oklahoma City, we serve Black women nationwide. If you are looking for a Black-owned, woman-led fiduciary practice that delivers black women wealth management built around your journey, location is not a barrier to working with us. Clients across the OKC metro and across the country meet with us virtually with the same depth of care.
